Designed to withstand hurricane winds and seismic activity

In 2020, we proudly supplied and contributed to the construction of a high-profile six-storey government building. This project was meticulously designed to British Standards and detailed by our Drawing Office using the latest Building Information Modelling (BIM) system. This intelligent, live 3D model-based system was instrumental in developing the engineering and construction plan.


The building’s installation was carried out by a local contractor, with the support of our overseas supervisors. The entire steel-framed structure comprises approximately 350 tonnes of steelwork, including columns, rafters, floor beams, floor joists, and metal floor decking. The floors utilise a composite metal decking system, suitable for cast-in-situ construction, achieving 1 and a ½ hours of fire protection.


Designed to withstand hurricane winds and seismic activity, the building’s resilience is a testament to our engineering expertise. All hot-rolled steel components were hot-dip galvanised for maintenance-free longevity and shipped in open-top containers.


The insulated roof features double skin steel cladding with a central architectural roof feature, constructed in steel and protected with a powder-coated Satin Anodise paint finish. The walls were built locally using rendered masonry block-work for a smooth finish.


We also supplied the custom-made glazing system, specifically designed for the local environment. The project utilised Sungaurd SN70/35 glass, which offers excellent solar protection while reducing the need for internal artificial lighting. This glass allows 70% light transmittance and only 30% solar energy transmittance, making it ideal for the building’s location.


Additionally, we provided all the formed aluminium panels that shade the windows, offering extra protection against solar and light transmittance.
