T5 Cruise Liner Terminal - UK

A modern cruise liner terminal, capable of handling 6000 passengers a day.

We worked with Brymor Construction Ltd and HESS Timber to

produce this 110,000sq ft cruise terminal, as well as two ancillary

buildings for baggage handling and plant.

We conducted an extensive value engineering exercise during the

tender stage, enabling us to reduce the peak foundation reactions by

a factor of ten. This led to significant savings in both time and money

for the client, and enabled the project to go ahead.

The north side of the building is adorned with six imposing bipods,

which not only support the structure but also create a striking and

grand entrance. These architectural elements draw the eye upward,

emphasising the building’s grandeur.

The terminal is the UK’s first plug-in shore-side terminal meaning

berthed ships have the ability to power down whilst docked.

The internal floor area includes a 42,500 sq. ft mezzanine floor above

a 65,000 sq. ft baggage handling area to allow direct access from the

terminal building to the docked cruise ship.

This project was a winner of t he Sustainable Development of the Year

in the South Coast Property Awards 2022
